This CD is a good introduction to the world of classical music for children
and adults and an ideal addition to the revival of interest in English Light Music.
Lupin's Song A catchy little ditty loved by everyone. A great hit sung by Geraldine & Lucian Russell-Price with WInd Quintet accompaniment.
Lupin the Pot-Bellied Pig for Narrator & Wind Quintet.
Composed and story written by Keith Amos. Narrated on this recording by Geraldine & Lucian Russell-Price.
A simple comforting story of a warm summer's day on the remote island of Sark, the central character is Lupin, a pot-bellied pig.
Various characters unfold during the story and birds, ducks, chickens are imitated by the five instruments with short solos, making it a wonderful little "Guide to the Instruments"
Three instrumental excerpts from Lupin the Pot-Bellied Pig (Lupin's Song, Sark Idyll, Camera Chase) from the original work for narrator & symphony orchestra.
The Steadfast Tin Soldier for Symphony Orchestra. From the original work of the same name based on Hans Andersen's fairy tale. Hailed as an obvious successor to Peter & the Wolf, these seven pieces include: Tin Soldier's Theme (march), Dancer's Theme (beautiful waltz), Canary Song (jovial ditty),
Jack-in-the-Box (rhythmically wickedly witty), Rocking Horse (calming lullaby), The Storm (scary turbulent waters), Steadfast Fanfare (solid brass fanfare).
"Bah, Humbug!" Three atmospheric excerpts, again from the work for narrator & symphony orchestra, based on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Scrooge's Theme, a creepy, menacing opening. Christmas Music, joyfully evocative. Finale magically transports the listener to Scrooge's reformed character.
